TOGETHER MAGAZINE
GUIDE TO GROWING SALES

Work has already begun on our second Together magazine booklet, “Guide to Growing Sales” which we are aiming to giveaway free in the November 2016 issue of the magazine.  The format of the booklet will be similar to the Bible Guide, 24-pages, A5, saddle-stitched.

Over the last few weeks we have started to gather some of the creative sales ideas that you are using in your shops. Our aim is to compile them into a booklet to share with other retailers.  Ideas can be anything from loyalty cards to working with suppliers on promotional schemes. Yes, we do want to include your imaginative suggestions, equally we don’t want to overlook tried and tested sales methods.

Are you doing something in your shop that you would like to share with other retailers?  If you are please email your idea to Steve Briars at, [email protected], who is compiling the booklet no later than 7 August.  Each entry is to be no more than 200 words of description with a brief “benefit”.

Below is the cover design, sample page and example of a Creative Sales Idea.

WEDDING FAIR AND CONFETTI

Working with our local Chamber of Commerce, we often find ourselves joining in various events in the town and district.  The usual ones: Mayor’s Picnic, Carnival, Beggar’s Fair, school and church fetes happen each year and the bookshop tries to man stalls and generally join in within the community.  We have also had the opportunity to attend three local wedding fairs this spring.  Using church contacts and staff members who have skills in floristry and cake-making we have been able to secure exhibition space at these fairs. The shop showcased the stationery, books, Bibles we sell.  We also created a wedding gift list of Fairly Traded products; jewellery for bridesmaids’ gifts were also displayed.  To encourage potential customers we put together a ‘goody bag’ with small gifts, our shop’s information bookmark and of course a box of confetti!

BENEFIT

Reaching out to many non-Christian families, encouraging them to think about why they are marrying in church and also giving alternative, ethical and compassionate ideas.  Several of these folk have found their way through the door of the shop and we have been able to show the joy and fun in the wedding planning from our Christian viewpoint.  Some brides have been back to ask for impartial advice when things get tough at home.
